“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” - Maya Angelou
Living overseas can sometimes feel overwhelming, and you might be navigating the unique challenges of expat life or simply feeling anxious, stuck, or exhausted by everyday demands.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO FACE IT ALONE
I offer a warm, empathetic, and confidential space where you can share your thoughts and feelings openly, without fear of judgment. Together, we’ll work through the challenges you’re facing, helping you find clarity and feel more understood, supported, and empowered.
ABOUT ME
I’m Emma, a native English speaker, trained and registered in the UK with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Having lived as an expat in France, Belgium, the US and now Switzerland, I know firsthand how emotionally challenging life overseas can be—whether it’s feelings of
isolation, loneliness, or the search for a sense of belonging.
With experience in supporting people through bereavement, anxiety, trauma, and relationship difficulties,
I specialize in helping expats navigate these struggles and find healing and growth.
Over the years, I’ve worked in various settings, including a bereavement counselling charity,
a women’s centre, and an organization supporting individuals through a wide range of personal challenges. These experiences have deepened my understanding of loss and emotional pain,
allowing me to offer tailored support to each client.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
At the core of my work is an approach that draws from psychodynamic, attachment, and relational therapies.
This means we’ll explore how your past, especially early relationships,
may be influencing the way you feel and connect with others today.
By understanding these patterns, we can work together to help you break free from unhelpful cycles and move toward
positive change. This process can open the door to greater self-awareness, stronger relationships, and lasting emotional resilience.
HOW I CAN HELP
As an expat, you may face unique challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming. People come to counselling for many different reasons, and every journey is personal.
I’m here to support you through those moments, helping you navigate the emotional ups and downs of life abroad.
Some of the challenges I can help with include:
- Anxiety: Constant worry or feeling on edge
- Depression: A deep sense of sadness or loss of joy
- Grief: Coping with the loss of a loved one
- Burnout: Feeling drained by work or life pressures
- Loneliness: A sense of isolation or disconnection
- Self Esteem: Doubts about your worth or confidence
- Life Transition: Adjusting to big changes like moving, a new job, or parenthood
- Relationship Issues: Struggles with partners, family, or friends
- Expat Challenges: Feeling out of place or experiencing culture shock
- Feeling Stuck: A sense of being unable to move forward in life
- Just Not Feeling Right: When things feel off but you can't quite put your finger on why
Whatever you’re going through, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can explore these
issues together.
My goal is to help you find clarity, balance, and a renewed sense of personal growth.
